Sunday Worship at 10 AM |
What happens at a typical worship service?
During worship we celebrate the story of God's love for all of creation- including for us! Each week, we take time to gather, hear the Word of God, share a small meal of bread and wine (or grape juice), and we are sent to be of service to the world. How will I know what to do? Upon arriving, you will receive a bulletin, which is a guide for the service. It will tell you all that you need to know about the service, like when to sit and stand. Please note that you are welcome to remain seated or as is best for you. Do I have to be Lutheran to take communion? The communion table is Christ's table, not the Pastor's table or the Lutheran table. As such, we invite anyone who seeks the real and living presence of God to partake. You do not need to be a member of the church and you do not need to be Lutheran. It is not necessary to have had a private confession with the pastor before taking communion. What do I do at communion? After the Pastor invites you forward, proceed down the center aisle where you will be given a communion wafer by the Pastor. Then, proceed to one of the communion assistants on either side of the communion table, each with wine (pink) and grape juice (purple). We invite you to place the empty cup in the receptacle at the end of the communion rail. Are kids welcome? Kids are very welcome! Currently we do not provide Sunday school or childcare during the service, but we do have activity baskets for kids that need a distraction during the service. Find out more about Sunday School at 9am, before the service. Do I have to put money in the offering plate? You don't have to give anything. Offering is a chance to give from your abundance. It's a way to acknowledge the many gifts that God has given us. If you do share a gift, you can be sure it will be used for God's work in the neighborhood and around the world. Life events |
As Lutheran Christians, we believe God's grace extends to everyone. We trust that Jesus is relentlessly pursuing us and that major life events like baptism, marriage, and funerals are important moments for the Body of Christ to gather together. For questions or details about any of these events, contact Pastor Bethany.
MARRIAGE: The Lutheran Church consider marriage to be a Christian worship service that celebrates the love between two people. |
BAPTISM: The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America practices both infant and believer baptism. Baptism is an outward sign of God's inward grace. With baptism, there is an expectation that one becomes a member of the Body of Christ at large. In infant baptism, parents pledge to raise their children in faith. FUNERALS: Funerals are holy moments when we celebrate someone's life, mourn their physical loss, and trust that they are in God's presence. We host funerals for anyone seeking a Christian service. |
